I'm Charlie a Melbourne-based consultant focused on aligning business strategy against technical execution.
My journey in technology hasn't been a straight line; it has taken me through various industries, from banking to digital products, each with its unique challenges and rewards. I've spent the last 16 years navigating the evolution of technology - from my early days of optimising network bases and marketing funnels to working on the implementation of a data mesh at one of Australia's big four banks.
Because I've seen these systems from both the engine room and senior meetings, I don't solely see "tech" or "hype“ - I see how a decision can create or destroy business value.
I'm a researcher at heart with a deep-seated desire to understand how things function. While I'm not a software engineer, I believe in having the "technical grit" to understand the foundation. Whether it's the difference between the heap and stack or the security implications of an agentic AI workflow, I make it my business to understand the underlying structures.
This mindset allows me to act as a bridge. I can dive into the weeds with engineering teams to contextualise a problem, then pull back to explain the commercial trade-offs to stakeholders. I'm not interested in being the "singular expert"; I'm interested in being the person who ensures the right experts are solving the right problems.
Lately, my focus has consolidated around the practical and safe application of Generative AI. I've followed the path from traditional regression and forecasting into the current world of Large Language Models and agentic systems.
For me, the goal isn't just to "implement AI" - it's to de-risk it. I'm fascinated by the challenge of connecting these powerful models to existing enterprise systems in a way that is accurate, cost-effective, and governed.
My interest in the technology started early - I still have a soft spot for the early, chaotic web of GeoCities, Dreamweaver and Flash. That curiosity remains today through my work with Vue and Nuxt, where I experiment with technical SEO and the building blocks of the modern web.
Outside of work, I'm usually found in Melbourne, likely planning my next adventure or working on my German - da ich versuche, meine Sprachkenntnisse ständig zu verbessern.
I love solving tricky problems and sharing ideas. If you're looking for a second pair of eyes on a complex project or just want to chat about the future of AI, data, or the web let's grab a coffee.
